Let’s begin . . .

In this blog you will be watching me learn outloud. I’ll be writing as if this were my journal. I will reflect on what I learn as I read books and essays on theology, epistemology, Quakerism, group process, movement building, Black experience and whatever else turns up on my radar. I usually have 3 or 4 things going at a time.

My entries will also include insights that come from living or therapy or dreams and symbols. You’ll be looking over my shoulder as I discover new things about myself.

Watch me put ideas together and over time perhaps rearrange them. Learning outloud means that I will write from what I think in the present, risking that in a few days or weeks I may have a different perspective on the same ideas. I’m striving to let go of the need to be consistent and to understand all the implications of something (as if that were possible) before I write anything. So expect contradictions and backtracking and reframing.

Together we will see what emerges.
